Matt Berry walked out of the London Dungeon and straight onto the small screen as Dr Lucien Sanchez in Channel 4's Garth Marengi's Darkplace.
He then joined the Mighty Boosh team as Dixon Bainbridge the evil Zoo owner, where he met a certain Rich Fulcher. Just before Christmas 2004, Matt and old Darkplace pal Richard Ayoade wrote the rock opera AD/BC for the BBC. (Matt wrote and produced the musical score).
Matt must have caught the attention of Vic and Bob, because they asked him to feature in their sketch show Monkey Trousers for ITV. It was there that he met Steve Coogan, who in turn asked him to contribute musically to his new sitcom Saxondale.
It was at this time that Matt with Rich Fulcher were commissioned to write a six-episode sketch show for BBC THREE. Matt and Rich scratched their heads, spat on the floor and tossed off 'Comedy Bronze', which was eventually renamed Snuff Box.
