Marc Ribot solo in Sugar Club next Wednesday (13th). Had the pleasure of seeing Ceramic Dog a couple of weeks ago (w/ Ches Smith & Shahzad Ismaily). Cracking gig! Hoping the solo show will be just as good, though expecting more of a Silent Movies vibe. Part of IMC's Progressions series of solo guitar gigs.

you just reminded me i missed paolo angelli. i'll try to make this.

Angeli was great! Amazing series of guitar modifications, which he routed through a shed load of pedals, all on independent pickups, which allowed him to have simultaneous bowed cello parts, percussive foot pedals, distorted leads and on top of that, a great voice. He even used a couple of spar plastic bags and 2 SM57's on the ground to generate this great tambourine effect. Unique talent.
