Malware Protection virus (1 Viewer)

so my machine aquired this downloading the Firefox update. Fuck sake.

PC totally locked down. can't run system restore in regular or safe mode, can't run anything and i don't have any retore disks with me.

Save for throwing it out the window, any thoughts on how i can get it back to a working state?

Can you boot a windows install cd?

I had this before. Try this...

Straight after bootup (when you get just a blue/background image) press ctrl+shift+Esc to try get task manager.
When (if) you get it, go to processes tab and arrange by "Mem Usage".
This bit takes a bit of trial and error... Watch for weird processes hoping up the tree and kill them as quick as possible.
In my case it was one process with a weird name and it kicked off 3 times.

If you still have a hold of your machine and all the processes have stablised go to run and type msconfig. Go to the Startup tab and see if you can find that process you killed and untick it.

Then download Malwarebytes to try rid you of that shit.

You may need to download it from another machine and run it a couple of times (this may require reboots hence the msconfig bit) until it comes up clean
