Mac's chattin' n shit (1 Viewer)

Here, I used to lash an ethernet cable into me powerbook and the other end into me G5.
They both mounted onto each others desktop (oh er matron)
with that globe earth type icon.

Cant remember how to do it.

Any help out there in interthumpedweb land?

ehmm. i think you have to go into preference>network>ethernet>configure.

but firewire and apple 'T' would be so much easier no?
do you want to be able to access both machines independently at the same time though?

TArget mode renders one of the macs useless. No goot to me.

Yeah, I go to the awl network thing and let it scan, after a minute or so it would detect the other "network" ie mac, mount, grand.

It shows up nuthin now.

PAin in the hole.
It used to be a case of pop in a cable, click OK on a pop up and there they were.

Dunno whats wrong now.

Although the powerbook has a slightly older OS, just by a couple of points though. Should'nt matter buh

you need a crossover network cable

or a router and 2 normal network cables, might be alot easier as it will sort its self out

I'm using the same cable I used before. The exact same one.
Never needed a router before.

Pain in the hole popin in the usb key, dragin, droppin, unmountin, unpluggin, pluggin, ,mountin, draggin, droppin leaving a snails trail of shite behind me that needs trashin. (well, from the key but you see my point)

i had the same problem once. Used to use a crossover cable, piece of piss always worked. Then it didn't and I had no idea what to do to make it work again. I think I gave up.
