No, the actual yoke that runs the power into your mother board and things.

Its an actual yoke like, that the power wire goes into, and it converts and smooths this down for you.

If this smoothing / conversion is off a bit, you will see all sorts of weird outcomes as it craps out.
You would probably have to wait till it pegs it, and then get some chap to open the box up and stick a new one in.
As long as it doesnt bollix up your mother board on the way out...
 
here, try loading it up, try using everything on the machine, spinning up the CPU and the fan, and the CD ROM, plug in an ipod to charge, put your monitor on bright, plug in an external mouse, and try and see if it makes it worse.

Not that that really helps, but it will tell you that its power supply.
 
how much is a new battery for a macbook?

my girlfriend's went kaput and she's got to keep it plugged in the whole time now.
