Light colored icons on dstop and finder (1 Viewer)

Hi,
All my icons on the desktop and in Finder windows are a very pale shade. It just doesn't look right.

hmmmmmmm

I dont think its something silly as other programs look fine.

I think ive seen it before on another computer

any ideas please?

You mean the appearance in the systems preferences?

Not exactly just any window I have open in finder.........

If I have another app like protools etc and I try to open a file within that program it looks OK.

Have been getting a few black screens of death lately as well

ive noticed all these ".ds store" files

i looked it up on wiki but didnt make sense to me

may or may no be related

havent noticed em before

Thats what Wiki said but still Im no closer to solving it

Have you tried going into Folder options on the control panel and click 'Do not show hidden folders'? Sorry, I'm not the most technical person so you probably already have.

needed to go to terminal and write

" defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool false"

as explained here;
