Budget airline Ryanair is to offer flights to the US for eight pounds, by buying planes from struggling rivals.

The plan will be revealed when chief executive Michael O'Leary announces the firm's quarterly results on Monday.
"Economy class will be very cheap, around 10 euros, but our business class will be very expensive," he said in a newspaper interview.
"The flights - which could begin by the end of next year - would be available for those booking early. Passengers would pay airport taxes on top of the fares. The transatlantic flights are likely to go from Stansted and Dublin airports to New York, Florida, Los Angeles, San Fransisco."

Amazing news.

Still, that would be pretty good.
I'd wait a while though, just to see if any plane crashes or if Ryanair goes bust.
It may be cheap, but loosing your money (or yer life) is never too good.

i'd definitely do it. most airline crashes are down to human error and most mechanical failures tent to be in newer aircraft so the 2nd or 3rd hand thing isn't an issue. anyway fuckit - live till ya die!!!!!!!

Wait, a creeping and hellish thought and doubt is now haunting me. If flights are that cheap, will they be so too for people coming from the US?
And if so, and this is where the fear kicks in, will this mean we will be overrun by pretend-Irish yanks on a frenzy to re-discover their 'roots'?

Oh no, this is going to work both ways. There'll be a huge influx of American traveller kids and punks. This could be the future.
