The atmosphere video got slack because it had people walking around in vaguely kkk style outfits. Although that was just the media trying to create controversy about the name 'joy division' etc. It's a cool enough video though. The song is brilliant. Tres poignant.

i always felt disappointed with that video. i believe it was made in the late eighties when atmosphere was rereleased to promote the substance lp. it really has nothing to do with the song . actually atmosphere is not close to being one of their greatest songs in my opinion. it was the voted the all time favourite song of peel listeners years ago i heard.

yep, Peel had an all time Festive 50 in January 2000.
I stayed in every night for three weeks to tape it. [five songs a show]
