Yes, it's on the same weekend as ATP pt2.
No, I don't work for them. Just thought it might be of interest to some.

that festival's alright--attracts a bit too much chin stroking is all.

the wire even had a stall there last year, for christ's sake.

and rob mazurek thought i'd nicked about 20 of his records. conceited wannabe-jazz prick. actually he let me off so i forgive him

Did you get much for them?

well, you just ruined everything for the poor lad now.

I'm glad I'm not Dudley's brother.
Nothing to do with that post, I'm just glad I'm not Dudley's brother.
And I would like to Share The Glad.

I was there last year too. I didn't know anyone else form Ireland had gone over (apart for mthe people I was with). The Wire were/are major sponsors and David Keenan, one of their main writers, organises Le Weekend.

If you didn't like the chin-stroking you should have stayed away from CUD and hung out with AMT instead. Cotton Casino's Godzilla impression is comedy genius.

>i was roped into helping run it as doorman/roadie/record seller/security/promotion/projectionist/band hospitality/minimalist smoke-machine operator. and all for a measly £20 a day and a few sly beers.

not strictly true. sure he has a major hand in it, but takes a lot more credit than is necessary. A couple of folk (Jackie Shearer and stuart from diskono) had major input. keenan may have had a sizeable say, but had nothing to do with the diskono night, for example. were you at that night?

did so. i can't remember v clearly cause of the booze involved but was at a party with the bearded glasses guy guy from acid mothers (shinji or something) a few bottles of smuggled wine, a mad german alcoholic flatmate girl of mine and assorted others. never saw cotton's godzilla impression, but she was a sight to behold skipping down stirling main street in broad daylight.

No. Just went for 2 nights. I remember now hearing that Keenan didn't go either 'cos he was having some kind of fight with Diskono. What do diskono do? Is it a disco, or no? (ho ho)
This year's bill looks trés D.K. though...free jazz, free rock...

the bearded glasses guy guy from acid mothers (shinji or something)

Hiroshi Higashi. Nice feller. Did he ever find his hat I wonder?

Weren't they all?
Were you living in Scotland then?

shame. the diskono night was most fun. some crazy polish/german art-porn cartoons presented by this crazy woman who wore only a bra and pants with flashing hearts indicating her bits. then there was strange but funny electronic music (probably so as not to appear up its own hole) from german glitchheads klangkrieg, the highlight of which was when they got this bass pulse going on some synth and slowly poured rice onto a tray connected to the technology, which hopped with each pulse, taking painstakingly tiny hops to the edge of the tray, then pouring more and more rice on, and jacking up the speed of the pulse more and more till it was like an outboard motor with fuckloads of rice pouring over the tray onto the floor (captured by a mic on the floor) till every grain had gone and the pulse stopped, leaving a crowd full of chin-strokers to wonder whether theses germans were ripping the piss out of them or not. then there was reznecek who did 80s synth pop and mimed talking to the audience and led much pogoing to the organiser's concern.

diskono

they're a strange scottish label/collective. put out lots of electronic stuff including boc years ago and kid606's luke vibert can... tune way before it showed up on the lp and lots of crazy different stuff.

yup. stirling folk are preoccupied with building and sorting out of massive new live venue there.

dunno. he tried to pull this girl i know. that was really odd.
