Alan.

Are you sure that is not PAL vs NTSC speed-up?

Region 1 version is 77 mins
Region 2 version is 74 mins

same print.
The disembowelling scene was excised from the theatrical print but stayed on the VHS release. The DVD print spliced / re-edited the scene back in so it is as complete as you are going to get.

The film is very well made but always seemed disjointed to me given the heavy cuts from the original running time of almost three hours (!)
It takes a while to kick into gear but the last half hour is great.
I have watched a VHS copy (4th gen) three times over the years.

Where is the Tartan version for sale?

Entry in DVD Compare does not mention it although it could be updated.

not sure really, there seem to be a few people griping about it on the net...
the US dvd is much better anyway, so i'll prob just get that either way

the tartan one has just been released on their new "tartan grindhouse" imprint, which also has Flesh For Frankenstein and two Jess Franco movies, the names of which escape me now

surprising amount of good reviews of this on the net though, sounds like it's right up my street

got this t'other, so good
lovin the score

the scene with the deer hooves - mindblower....
that zeus lookin mask was so creepy. looked like
my old english teacher.

makes me wanna spend a load of money on speed
and make a film of my own!

'I know what i like..Leather and girls with tits like bananas..'

I first saw this about 12-15 years ago on a bootlegg tape that was filmed off a TV screen..

ha - you still got the tape?

I prolly do - I still have a few boxes of my old Bootlegs from back in the day.

It was weird as first time I've seen Cannibal Holocaust and ilsa etc was on less than great quality bootleg. They looked grim and sleazy. When the DVD were released and i got em they actually didn't seem half as nasty.

I can identify with that. Cannibal Ferox I saw on grainy nth gen VHS. Saw the DVD recently and it wasn't as good.
