... the great Hugh Farrelly in the Indo, re: Leinster's win:

"THE 19-16 rising. Given the final scoreline, this nation's shadow-induced Anglo obsession, and the fact that this was a story of Irish overcoming English, references to that storied rebellion in the aftermath of Saturday's explosive Heineken Cup final in Edinburgh were to be expected. However, when we set aside the spurious links between rugby and our republican past, there was indeed an element of history being rewritten at Murrayfield on Saturday."

I'm not going to link to this guff.

most contradictory sentence of the week goes to...

The vast majority.

4 (2 aussie, 1 Fijian and 1 Cook Islander) foreigners in the starting 15, don't think there were many on the bench.

With a fully fit panal there would have been a South African and an Argentinian as likely starters (though the South African would have been in for the guy from the Cook Islands and there's another Irish lad who might have taken the Fijian's place).

Hopefully they'll get to meet the queen.

The true measure of Irish success in rugby is measured by how the English pat you on the head afterwards by including you in their touring team or having you meet the monarch.
Respect from the tans is what rugby, and living in Donnybrook, is all about.
And who'd begrudge it to them?

i'd say there was some amount of heino's consumed at the weekend.

the most difficult part of the weekend was getting a heineken at murrayfield. a 30-40 minute crushing operation.

but yes, many were still consumed. i was certainly ordering four at a time so as not to go back in to get more.
