St. Vincent makes a much anticipated return to Ireland this summer and Cork Opera House are delighted to announce that the American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist will take to their stage on Monday 13th July.

St Vincent, aka Annie Clark, has been moving at a breakneck speed for the past two years, barely stopping to catch her breath amidst a whirlwind of recording and touring. With four critically acclaimed albums and sell-out shows at some of the biggest venues around the world under her belt, it seems there’s still no sign of her slowing down any time soon.

2014 proved to be an unmitigated triumph for St. Vincent’s Annie Clark as she captivated festival audiences across the globe, performed with a reunited Nirvana at the 29th Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony and toured with The Black Keys and Queens of the Stone Age. Her self-titled fourth album was named the Number One album of the year by several publications including The Guardian and she received her first Grammy nomination for ‘Best Alternative Music Album’. This year, the Texas-born singer reaps the rewards of her hard work and unique sounds. She recently secured a Brit Nomination for Best International Female Solo Artist and is set to release a deluxe version of St. Vincentnext month featuring the previously unreleased track, ‘Bad Believer’ before she continues on her worldwide tour stopping off at festivals such as Coachella on the way.

St. Vincent’s debut album ‘Marry Me’ was released in 2007, which was followed by ‘Actor’ in 2009 and ‘Strange Mercy in 2001 which was received to critical acclaim. Called "one of the year's best" by the New York Times and"something to behold" by Pitchfork, the record cemented her status as one of her generations most fearsome and inventive guitarists. It earned her the covers of SPIN, Paper, and Under the Radar, performances everywhere from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Fallon to Letterman and Conan, and a year-long sold-out tour of some of biggest venues around the world. She appeared on the hit IFC series Portlandia and graced the pages of Vogue's coveted September issue. It was during this already monumentally busy time that she completed work with David Byrne on their collaborative album 'Love This Giant,' another critical smash that was dubbed "marvellous" by the New Yorker and"magical" by NPR.

Such is the music on 'St. Vincent', her most gripping work to date: charming and alarming, gorgeous and morbid, comforting and uncanny. Four albums into one of music's most compelling careers, Annie Clark is as “ambivalent” as ever. From her rocky edge to her seductive and theatrical performances, she is a captivating musical force to be reckoned with.

Praise for St. Vincent, the self-titled album:

“a coronation: a masterful set of skewed but sticky pop hooks, subtly sexy electro-funk and Dada poetry that aches for real.” – Entertainment Weekly

“the best of the year….nothing even came close” – NPR
