2014 an incredible year for Annie Clark aka St. Vincent, releasing her genius Grammy-nominated , self-titled, fourth album. She first made her debut in Ireland in 2009 opening for Grizzly Bear in Vicar Street. Since then she has released two more albums, plus a collaborative album with Talking Heads’ David Byrne and proved herself as a brilliant songwriter, guitar player, vocalist and thrilling live performer. In fact, every aspect of her work emphasises the same impeccable standards from her music videos to her art direction to the songs themselves.
It was her latest eponymous album that seen Clark expand her fan-base whilst maintaining the critical acclaim that followed her career, having been named the #1 Album of the Year by The Guardian, Entertainment Weekly and NME, and placed in the top 5 on year-end lists from Time Magazine and Rolling Stone, which called the album “a coronation: a masterful set of skewed but sticky pop hooks, subtly sexy electro-funk and Dada poetry that aches for real.” Likewise, NPR said St. Vincent’s live show was “the best of the year,” adding “nothing even came close.” Earlier in 2014, St. Vincent performed with a reunited Nirvana at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on HBO and the season finale of Saturday NightLive. He toured as special guest with the Black keys and Queens of the Stone Age.
St. Vincent & Nirvana ‘Lithium’
To top it all off St. Vincent has received her first Grammy nomination in the category of Best Alternative Album. In addition she has received a Brit Award nomination for Best International Female Solo Artist.
On February 9th this year, St. Vincent, will release a deluxe edition of her latest album. The expanded package is highlighted by a previously unreleased song called ‘Bad Believer’, which today is now available for streaming. A sizzling glam-rock number, it sees Annie Clark lacing up her platform shoes and recounting religious disappointments.
