i got an ipod recently and have been tryin to use it without itunes, using some 3rd party software
they all seem really glitchy and slow and tend to crash my computer

wondering how long roughly does itunes take to put and an average album onto and ipod?

also, does itunes convert mp3s to the apple lossless format on you harddrive or just on the ipod?

does itune clear all the stuff off an ipod if its plugged into a different computer than it was plugged into?

1. Seconds
2. Yes itunes can convert to mp3, you need to set your preferences.
3. Only if you tell it to...a window will come up and ask you if you want to clear it.

Only change it makes on the ipod itself is some fecking about with the folder structure & filenames so you can't easily see what's on it if you're looking at it as a disk. It shouldn't do any format change unless you explicitly tell it.

Transfer rate, maybe 3/4 mb / second.

If you go to itunes, preferences, advanced, importing, and change it to mp3 it should sort you out format wise.

No point converting an MP3 into a lossless format as the MP3 has already lost most of the songs original info and you can't put the lost stuff back in. Have to do the lossless thing when you are ripping the CD in the first place.
