Has anyone seen this stuff going on in Australia. Synopsis: they are outlawing alcohol and pornography in Aborigine communities in an effort to kerb child abuse.

I'm not an expert in this matter but it would seem to be common sense that paedophiles would not find anything of interest to them in "normal" porn (i.e. porn with grown ups) so why would the fact of it being there or not there affect their activities?

This definitely won't solve any problems and it's pretty barbaric to treat one group of people in this way in the first place. I wonder what sort of "experts" were paid to dream up this plan.

I read somewhere that most of the tribes in the area where it is being banned have themselves banned alcohol for over 20 years. There's a good few aboriginals that see it as a great step that should have been taken ages ago.

Howard hates Abos. Plain and simple. The Australians have been persecuting them for years. Read John Pilger's stuff on his homeland (www.johnpilger.com).

Instead of banning alcohol and porn, they should perhaps try to educate them and give them jobs.

the reason that they are banning porn is apparently because it is widely available to children and because recent cases of child abuse in the region have involved the "grooming" of the children that are to be abused - where kids are intentionally shown porn to desensitise them.
