IMRO Showcase Tour Hits The Road

The IMRO Showcase Tour, Ireland’s longest running national music showcase tour takes to the road again in March. The Tour, now firmly established as one of the premier opportunities for emerging bands to showcase to record companies and the music media here in Ireland and the UK is one of the most sought after gigs on the Irish Music calendar each year.

Over the years the Tour has given in excess of 600 bands the opportunity to showcase their wares to live audiences and industry movers and shakers throughout Ireland and the UK. The 2005 Tour consists of a series of regional showcases which will take place in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway, Belfast, Waterford, Dundalk, plus other soon to be announced locations. These showcases will be followed by a ‘Best of Tour Gig’ in Dublin later in the year.

Amongst the acts that appeared on the Tour last year were indie hotshots Mainline, who have been picking up important UK radio plays and media coverage over the last couple of months and are definitely on the “one to watch” list for 2005. Also featured were Remma from Cork who have since signed to Sanctuary Records UK. Dublin rock act The Marshall Stars who appeared at one of the Dublin showcases have just signed to Mercury Records and Tabby Callaghan who performed in the Galway leg of the Tour subsequently went on to make a big impression as a finalist on ITV’s hit TV programme The X Factor.

“Its impossible to quantify just how important these gigs are. It is also a major boost to the bands involved .. I know because I’ve spoken to them. Having seen the standard at the Best of Tour gig last year, it is only a matter of time before a number of these acts receive major recording contracts.” Dave Fanning, 2FM.

The 2005 Tour is fully supported by 2FM through the Dave Fanning, Dan Hegarty, Jenny Huston and Cormac Battle evening shows.

With no shortage of exciting acts emerging from around the country there has been a strong level of international music industry attention on Ireland in recent times and the IMRO Tour provides the perfect opportunity to grab some of that attention.

Bands wishing to be considered for one of these gigs should send a demo to:
