The Nobel prize already lost its meaning the day David Trimble got one anyway...I mean the guy who was running round a graveyard like a crazed bigot in Drumcree roaring at cops to let a load of drunken louts march and cause havoc and at one time allied himself with Ian Paisley - Hitler without charisma.

Just bear in mind that "[l]ast year, 136 individuals and groups were nominated." and that any member of the legislature can vote... No matter how off-kilter their world-view...
Also bear in mind that Henry Kissinger won this prize in 1973, and that he's currently being indicted for war crimes...

On the plus side, a poll on bbc.co.uk revealed that 76% of the public don't think they should win. But the nobel prize is a bit like the Oscars though isn't it? The people who choose aren't exactly the voice of the people...
