Hooray For Humans

Hooray For Humans is a perfect example of how different minds coming together can often equal the best results; with backgrounds in everything from hardcore to avant-garde minimalism, the Cork group are now a brazen pop outfit, who flirt with everything from post-rock to new-wave to electro.

Formed in September 2006, Hooray For Humans blend guitars with synths and electronics. Within a matter of months, they already had a number of live dates under their belt, starting with a guest slot to Publicist (Trans Am side-project) in their home city. Constant touring followed, while demos cut in October 2006 created an online buzz. By the end of 2006, they were voted Best New Cork Band by the Cork Independent, while Hot Press selected H4H as "Ones to Watch".

Early 2007 saw Hooray For Humans become the first new band to sign to Limerick independent label Out On A Limb Records in nearly three years. Constant touring followed, enabling the band to get match-fit for the recording of their debut album this summer.

Their debut album entitled Safekeeping, released in October 2007, manages to find a blissful counterbalance between emotive lyrics mixed with boy/girl shouty pop, sensitive indietronica, big choruses and fun times. It is the sound of a band enjoying themselves, wanting to make you dance; yet it is anything but throwaway in its nature.

A new 7” single ‘Already Sleeping’ will be released in March 2008, coinciding with H4H’s first Irish dates of the year, with the band’s first UK tour to take place later in that month.

BATS

Formed in the early part of the Pliocene age, BATS (featuring ex-members of Martha Washington) have spent millions of years developing their sound from a series of intermittent bleeps to the sexy sonic bullets they create today. 4 out of 5 BATS hail from Ireland's alpha-smoke- Dublin, while the other crawled his way on bloody knuckles out of the haunted town of Carbury, Kildare in the mid 1600's.

In early 2007 BATS began peddling their love around the island and have since played support to such acts as Gang Gang Dance, Down I Go, The Locust and Liars. December 2007 sees the release on independent label Armed Ambitions of their debut EP entitled 'Cruel Sea Scientist' and the frightening of some smaller children. Strong supporters of the Earth to space elevator and strong opposers of the plan to strip-mine the moon for Helium 3, BATS strive to disperse their audio seed into the ears and minds of as many receptive humans as possible. They do so with valiant gusto and in the face of a limited gene pool.

Northstation

Northstation is Dublin musician Steve Fanagan.

Steve began recording as Northstation in 1999, when he provided the soundtrack for a collection of short films. 2001 saw the release of the first Northstation album, ‘plink.plonk’, a collection of songs originally compiled for the din sound exhibition. This was followed by some live performances. In 2003 Steve began work on the ‘Bears’ album, which was released in July 2004, on risc records. Since releasing Bears, Northstation has gigged extensively playing alongside many and varied musicians. 2006 saw the release of the third Northstation album, called ‘Wagtail’. In February of this year Northstation released an ep of remixes of music by bands such as Hood, Halfset, Herv and others.

Steve currently works as a sound engineer and college tutor, and releases music under several different names. He also runs a small independent label called Slow Loris.

Hey Alan Remorse - i like yer band and that song yous have 06 Forever. So does him indoors. He doesnt like the whistle bit but i think its just fine. Any Dublin dates apart from that one comin up cause ill be in the UK with ma band that weekend? Clasharooni indeed.

Haha, the bit with the whistle... We put that in so we could describe ourselves as Sambacore

We don't have any plans to play another gig in Dublin soon unfortunately... We're talking about touring again in May, but nothing is set in stone.. I'll let you know when we know!
