THE VILLAGE WEXFORD STREET
DOORS 8pm

Hi,
The awesome Hanson brothers are playing in the village on friday september
26 as part of their first ever Irish tour.
Vancouver, Canada's Hanson brothers are best known for the many albums
they've released under the name No Means No, Their long time side project.
Johnny, Robbie, Tommy and Ernie forget the existential anger of No Means No
in favour playing songs about hockey and beer played in Ramones style punk
rock, while wearing hockey masks.* Earlier this year they Released a six
track EP, Brad, on Wrong records.

No Means No have played 6 blistering sell out shows in Dublin in the last
ten years. They last played here supporting Motorhead at last years Extreme
festival in the RDS.

Support on the night comes from Mouth Piece, a three peice courier punk
band from Dublin.

Typical. The one weekend in the last 7 years I won't be in Ireland - I'll be driving to London to see The Cramps - and they have to play that weekend....

the gig in cork i think is 10 euro....
wouldn't miss this for all the tracksuits in knocka....

the belfast gig is £6.50. thats less than €10.
surely theres gonna be the biggest crowd of any of the irish gigs in dublin. so why does it cost 50% more here? fuck that. i'm sick of the stupid gig prices in this town.

At least you're doing something to remedy the situation by regularly putting on 4-band bills for six quid though...

yeah but people still complain about the price of smaller gigs and most are underattended (esp. gigs with touring bands), then they cream themselves as soon as some big "name" band comes along and its 3 times the price in a shitty venue with dodgy bouncers and blacks in the jacks. without the regulars who show up almost all the time at GZ gigs no matter who is playing we'd be fucked.

bottom line on expensive dub gigs is that no one works for free and you can't really expect them to with the amount of investment and aggrovation that goes into running a big gig-ask naill McG about the fugazi show in the SFX back in the day. most pple don't realise that if the free labour everyone involved in a DIY show provides was priced then even a pub gig would cost 8-10 snots in. and we live in an expensive shithole of a city.

Fuck that price, fuck that price up its own arse. I'm going to battering-ram my way in, anyone with me? I'm bloody serious.

Yeah, it's fucking bullshit. It's not like the price is reflected in a decent venue even, just the fuckin' Village -bollocks to that. I've been into the Hanson Bros for ages but that's too much.

Yes actually I would like to see video footage of that!

Actually, as an idea right, you could get about 20 people together outside the place, and then all charge towards the doors, it'd probably work.

Looking forward to tonight!

The Hanson Brothers are great. Gross Misconduct is a classic drinking album. Can't wait to see 'em in Belfast tonight!
