Emerging from the loins of roots dub combo The Beatroots, ARON BENNETT (guitar,flute,rhodes,electronica) and LOZ FITZGIBBON (bass,harmonium,vintage tapes and fx) formed GREEN MONITOR in 2003 as a project to showcase their more experimental ideas. With a mutual respect for the likes of LEE SCRATCH PERRY and KING TUBBY'S studio approach, LOZ and ARON set about stipping both folk and dub music and reconstructing it using both acoustic and technological processes. In that same year CLIVE GASH (drumkit,tattoos and world percussion) and the internationally acclaimed ANNETTE BUCKLEY joined to form Cork's latest supergroup since The dancing bastards from Hell.
That year GREEN MONITOR contributed several tracks to the award winning Irish BURNING MAN documentary DUST DEVILS and released their eponomously titled debut album garnering praise from the likes of DARREN EMERSON, ASHLEY BEEDLE(X -PRESS 2) and NIGHTMARES ON WAX. While N.O.W DJ EASE featured their skank opus GREEN SKINS both live and on his radio shows. GREEN MONITOR also got a mention on theN.O.W 2006 album 'In a space outta sound'. The sublime ANNETTE BUCKLEY/GREEN MONITOR collaboration BLINDED was included on the double SOUTHERN FRIED 2 compilation (check out the peoplesrepublicofcork website).
Live the band has wowed audiences up and down the country playing the blossoming festival circuit like THE ELECTRIC PICNIC, MANTUA, THE LITTLE GREEN GATHERING and THE LIFE FESTIVAL. GREEN MONITOR have supported New Zealand's FAT FREDDYS DROP and PITCHBLACK and would later remix one of the bands songs inspiring the track of the same name. Since then the band have released an EP and have an album now finished to be released May 1st and are to have a song included on a dub compilation to be released in JAPAN this year.
GREEN MONITOR are a unique,ever changing creative dynamic.Stealing music from the heavenly spheres,they sprinkle stardust of Electro Soul,SpaceRock,Folkadelic and World Music to birth a new revolution of sound.Watch this SPACE for details....ONE LOVE
