so does anyone know how you would go about making a decent GUI?

a few knobs, sliders and dials for vsts or other audio tools?

do any of you designery types not have any idea how I would go about creating a gui for say a vst?

I can handle buttons and switches which just have an on and off state. But any tips on what the best way to go about drawing each stage of a rotating knob (oh man I shoudnt have said that..) without getting it all skewed...
