given there are folks posting pics here that are made on everything from modern compacts to 1950s press cameras I thought a thread sharing advice, wisdom and fanboy/girl gushing would be interesting...
whats your favourite camera or lens or other gee-gaw?

for me it probably has to be this yolk;
canonet ql17 - fixed lens rangefinder made in three various versions from mid 60s-80s.
beautiful, fast 1.7 40mm lens. just a really clever, simple little camera. they were the high end compacts of their day, and can be got for as little a 60e on ebay betimes..
great camera for street photography and the likes.
only problems are -
only shutter priority and unmetered manual modes (not that big a deal).
film advance mechanism is its weak point, and it gets wonky with age.
cant get the right batteries - although it'll take the modern equivalent - just have to adjust the iso rating 1 stop..
