A friend asked me did I know of any good funny books, as she wants to give one as a present.
Anyone got any recommendations?? Yes it's wide open... no accounting for taste.

Frankenstein Unbound by Brian Aldiss

its sci-fi, not comedy, however i found it hilarious. Dracula Unbound was funny too.

The book was published through the efforts of writer Walker Percy (who also contributed a revealing foreword) and Toole's mother Thelma Toole, quickly becoming a cult classic, and later a mainstream success. Toole posthumously won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1981.
