I've been listening to Parliament's "Mothership Connection" and "Funkentelechy vs. the placebo syndrome".

What else is good?

you could spend forever getting further into funkadelic and parliament and further again into p-funk allstars, bootsy, clinton, worrel etc.
yeah some sly and the family stuff is cool but i particularly like larry graham..

im also big into the meters but its less glam punk and more old skool funk with a hint of northern soul. they were part of the new orleans funk movement(which is said to be the origin of funk). others in this movement were chuck garbo, proffesor longhair and dr. john. i discovered most of these bands on a great new orleans funk compilation on soul jazz. some hot shit on it. you should defo track that down.
after that id be more about soul/funk stuff. of course youve got the classics like marvin gaye, james brown, stevie wonder etc.
check out maceo and the macks, curtis mayfield, backyard heavies and be sure to check out one of the most infuential albums of all time, herbie hancock's 'head-hunters'.

and for my more modern funk flavours i like prince, super thriller, beck, primus(some stuff), talking heads and that kinda thing. then youve got the real good funk influenced hip-hop...
