Picked this up in Easons last week for the first time. It's pretty good, even if you dont understand the music theory stuff (which i really dont). There's a great article on commissioned orchestral music, or something like that, criticised from a Marxist perspective, which may at first glance sound like a pile of crap, but actually highlights some important issues in music. i.e. the alienation of the musician from the meaning of his/her work, and the fact that in order for the average musician to be able to make a living from music, they'd best try to get an admin job in an arts council or funding body... basically become a part of the "machine" as opposed to existing as a creative being and having the freedom to pursue that in order to make ends meet.
