The quintessential British soul band for the 21st Century have arrived! Fusing elements of contemporary club music with inspired song-writing and outstanding production, incorporating the best traditions of soul with r&b, house and hip-hop. The 7 piece Reel People band are a super-group of London's finest Soul musicians, featuring members from Moloko, Incognito, US3 and the Basement Jaxx crew, plus other well established members of the Soul community. Brainchild of Oli Lazarus and Tom Davidson, Reel People are a collective that come to the fore with some serious musical talent. Their debut album, "Second Guess", was released by Papa Records in July 2003, receiving outstanding acclaim from the UK dance music media and due to their 'you had to have been there' live performances, there has been a huge word of mouth success . The album features artists like Vanessa Freeman (known for her stand out vocals with the likes of 4 Hero). Dyanna Fearon, DJ Spinna, Phil Asher, Seiji and Afronaught (Bugz In The Attic).
The band have already left crowds in awe with gigs at a variety of venues, such as London's Jazz Café and Cargo, Electric Chair and Band On The Wall in Manchester, The Southport Soul Weekender, St. Petersburg's Nu Jazz Festival and they have returned from a whirlwind tour of Japan where they shared the bill with Kyoto Jazz Massive and UFO. UK summer tour planned in June / July and a headline set at the Detroit Movement Festival.....
