"Just imagine the world reaching the end of its tri-millennial life-cycle and imploding again. Dark? Now just imagine rhythm. Primal, learning, glittering rhythm…" - Drowned in Sound
"My favourite band at the moment!" - Dan Deacon
"Think the bombastic pound of Boredoms, the skewed structures of Deerhoof, and the tribal thump of Liars…." – Pitchfork
“Health music can be harsh and grating, but also sensually smooth and sexy and electronic and also metallic and all Fodderstompfy." - L.A Weekly
HEALTH's brutal diversity is at the forefront of LA's burgeoning experimental scene. Their self-titled debut finally saw the light of day early last year via Lovepump United having already received accolades by Pitchfork and Drowned in Sound where the album was voted in the top ten albums of last year.
Having been together for six months before playing live, and eight months before releasing anything, Health's notoriety centred around LA's The Smell venue where more often than not they played free all-ages shows to those eager to lose themselves in the band's volatile experimental noise.
HEALTH recorded their debut in one of their favourite places, the aforementioned Smell. An all ages music venue in downtown Los Angeles, it's open and brick and dirty and dark, but when you sing a church hymnal or hit a drum as hard as you can, the sound is beautiful. HEALTH did both of these things on their album. They also went out and found equipment born the same time as The Smell - mostly ribbon microphones designed by the BBC for radio broadcasts in the 1930's, things George Martin liked to use.
HEALTH have also had a hand in 8-bit glitch duo Crystal Castles' recent success. In addition to a Crystal Castles/HEALTH split 7", HEALTH remixed Crystal Castles' "Crimewave" which featured on the UK release of the single.
Relentless touring with Crystal Castles, Dan Deacon, and White Williams has cemeneted their status as one of the most exciting and energetic bands around.

The Dublin Duck Dispensary
Bobby Aherne’s 2008 release Luanqibazao became the most popular record on Dutch label Rack and Ruin Records within a day of its release, and was declared one of the best Irish albums of 2008 by many music publications. You can get the album for free on his MySpace and buy the follow-up EP Yykes Basket. We love his distorted pop.

Wounds
Dublin punk kids Wounds have only played a handful of gigs to date yet they’re rapidly earning a reputation for their ear-bashing confrontational live shows.
