Goodtime John

If John Cowhie’s songs weren’t so gently beguiling, addictively impressionistic and evocative you’d be forgiven for forgetting he ever existed. See Goodtime John hasn’t exactly been in the spotlight lately. Since his last album, I’ll Sing Til The Sun Turns Cold and his 2005 EP O Death Whisper his time has been taken up with a four-year Design degree and work as Foggy Notions artistic director. He was, however, continuously writing songs in his spare time, knowing in the back of his mind that sometime in the future he would be compelled to make a record, destined to get back up on a stage.

More recently, he has joined his buddy Jape on an Irish tour and revealed recordings, via his myspace site, he recorded some years ago at the Department of Safety in Anacortes WA with kindred spirits such as Phil Elverum (Microphones, Mt. Eerie), Adrian Orange, Kevin Erickson, Ruth Allison and Karl Blau. Check his myspace also for more recent demos and the odd surprise cover version such as his reworking of Swedish electro-pop diva Robyn’s “Every Heartbeat” and all sorts of odds and ends, each little step a tentative one towards making that long overdue third record.

Sunken Foal
After completing his MA in Music Technology at UL, former Ambulance man Dunc Murphy released his debut album Fallen Arches on Planet-Mu records alongside the Fermented Condiments E.P. in late 2008. His sound evokes a curious murky world often arguing between the discordant and the melodious, the electronic and the acoustic.

Since then, he has played a string of successful gigs developing a unique and stunning 'finger-triggered' improvisational live performance setup with Rod Morris alongside the likes of Clark, Milanese, Themselves, Venetian Snares & The Jimmy Cake.

His BBC Radio 1 session for the Mary Anne Hobbs show (featuring Jürgen Simpson and Cormac Dermody) is set for release in late 2009 which includes remixes by acts such as Legion of Two.
