By releasing Firefox 3 today and making everyone download it at once they've completely crippled their own servers. Anything to do with any mozilla page gets "Http/1.1 Service Unavailable". Fantastic.

No, it's the official release today, betas and release candidates have been around for a while. They're aiming for a world record in the number of downloads by getting people to dl it today. But as soon as it was released, everything crashed.

There must have been something up with the Ubuntu people and mozilla, because I have had the version 3 firefox just through the regular Ubuntu update manager for a good few days now.

There isn't. There was a thread on another forum that found the hashes from RC3 and the official canditate were the exact same. The about thingy in RC3 says 3.0 official, not RC3. It all seems to be a stunt to get the world record.

It's pretty good yeah. A few plug ins aren't working (notably stumble-upon) but stuff like the auto fill address bar is damn good

the last few Linux kernels have been getting faster and faster.
my desktops run on old shity hardware, and run really well. Open Source has no agenda to encourage you buying new hardware.
