Anyone know any good music resources/messageboard for Sydney?


Gonna be spending a few months there soon so I thought I'd acquaint myself with the locals and keep up to date with the gigscene.

I lived ther for 6 months and I'm sorry to say I only found a couple of venues and not a very many interesting bands...then again I may have missed stuff.

The Hopetown Inn (somewhere near surrey hills) is good
so is The Landsdown, but not always.

...check out events in areas like 'Glebe', 'Liechart', 'new town'......I'm a bit fuzzy on all this.

I don't know any web addresses
The impression I got is Sydney is more about dance and nightclubs than live bands.
I hope you prove me wrong and find great stuff.

Where is Half a Cow based?

Half a Cow are the coolest indie record label in austailia that I actually know off


Here funny if you found a board and posted

Dancing is for knackers. Maybe if I go 'gay' for the few months in Sydney it'll make the nightlife more bearable. !baggyyyy Ah, maybe not.

I'll be taking in a triple of months in Melbourne too...I hear its much cooler there alright...hopefully they have some railroads or olympic stadiums to build, so a hard working Paddy like myself can earn a honest crust.

Cool...I'll issue a Thumped call to arms when I arrive, and see if you're knockin around.

The plan is to stay in Melbourne from May - July '04, but as with all plans, that could go horribly wrong.
