I also watched Iran v The Great Satan. Unfortunately the Iranians didn't have the composure to finish up front, they created some good chances but always looked panicky at the crucial moments.

if you're old enough to remember Italia '90 you might recall there was unrest in Romania at the time. The Romanian supporters were waving their national flag with a big hole in the middle. A large number of their supporters claimed political asylum in Italy, rather than return home.

Unlikely to happen in this case, given where the world cup is being held, but it did remind me of what happened back then.

I would have said Wales were obviously better than us up until recently, but on the evidence of this tournament (i.e. it seems their best 2 players Bale and Ramsey are well into their career twilight at this point) I'd put them about level with Ireland now. They did well to qualify but it's no Iceland 2018 (population 350,000 people).
