ahhhhhh the cork incident
sit back and listen to this tale of woe , of boyhood dreams shattered, and why you really should NEVER MEET YOUR (three minute) HEROS...............
it was one summer sunday evening ,i remember it well, 80s greats the selecter were playin in a little pub on oliver plunkett street called the olde oak (according to one of me mates whos about 40 now ,it was a famous skag pub in the early eighties where all the jakies in cork would enjoy their poison, but no more) anyway myself and two other boys ,one called thomas and one called nev, after a game of football and some cans we headed towards the pub to meet two other boys we knew one called belfast barry and one called denzil ,the mean old bouncers refused to let us in saying "you five boys look like punk rockers,NO PUNK ROCKERS!!!" so after pleading with the bouncers we decided to shag off a drink somewhere else, but i was very disapointed as i had wanted to get a photo of me a pauline, so after a shandy or two with the boys, i went back to the venue after the gig to see if my dream could come true, outside the pub i met the drummer and told him our earlier prediciment and all about my boyhood dream,he listened sympathicically and said "ill sort this" brought me into to the pub tellin the bouncer i was with the band brought me up the stairs to the dress room and told me to come in a 'ave a beer when i walked in there was pauline black completely starker ,except for her trousers and her bra with soap all over her face ,she screamed "who the fuck is this get the fuck out" so i rapidly left the dressing room then i heard her scream " the fuckin lot of ye " as she proceeded to kick the rest of the band out.well i havnt seen the selecters name on a gig poster since the incident ,about two years ago , and i like to think i might of ...split up the selecter.

the end

by the way i listened to the selecter for the first time again about a month ago and there even better than i remember,.I COULD NEVER STAY MAD AT YOU PAULINE

ah ha... i see. i may have imagined this but i think they played cork a couple of months ago, but probably not. actually, that may have been bad manners but you can see how i'd confuse Pauline and Buster Bloodvessel
