New York based MRNORTH make a welcome returnto their native Dublin for a post Christmas show at Whelan’s on December 27th.

Formed in Dublin in 1992, MRNORTH (Emmett O'Malley, Adrian Mordaunt, Oisin O'Malley, and Colin Smith) have had quite an odyssey leading up to the release of their debut record Lifesize. The four-piece, made up of two brothers, a first cousin and a next door neighbor, started playing together when they were young teens. After making some noise in Ireland, the boys left for Vicenza, Italy, where a producer was set to help them put down some tracks for a record. The band soon became local favorites and their three month trip lasted two years as they toured all over Italy and honed their sound.
A chance meeting with an American manager led the band to New York City in 2000 where they are currently based After a year of gigging, building up a following and creating a buzz in the music industry, the band signed a record deal, and ended up in the studio with rock legend Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads, Live, No Doubt) to record their debut album Lifesize. T
he result is a record full of emotionally driven, epic rock songs complimented most by the incredible unity and tightness of the band's four members. Charasmatic lead singer Colin Smith's vocals punch through every song and highlight the album's accomplished lyrics.
2006 saw the guys self producing, with input from the bands long time friend Steve Lyon ( Depeche Mode, The Cure) their second album “Fear & Desire” a beautifully orchestrated record, on which the band finally achieved what they've wanted to for years - a record that fully captures the massive sound and energy that pervades their dynamic live sets. Fear & Desire was launched at the Florence Gould Hall in New York City featuring the Greenwich Village Orchestra playing songs that were featured on the record.
