im using a eiplifone les paul with a marshall MG250DFX combo, and i want to know which noise gate/noise reduction pedal is the best (ie. which reduces noise but not tone)

on the les paul, i have the two tone knobs always at 10, the front pickup volume usually and 7 and the back pickup usually at 7 also. if i turn these up to 10, the guitar gets VERY hard to control, espedially using the amp overdrive. does anyone know what pedal i should use and why? im willing to spend a bit of cash but something under 100 euro would be handy...

I have a Boss Noise reduction pedal, cuts out all feedback when I'm not playing. Works fine for me, when the battery starts to fade it effects the sound, but otherwise works fine for me.

The lead setting on the overdrive channel of the MGs is noisy, but I use it at fairly high volume at rehearsal with single coils at 10 and don't have any problems controlling noise/feedback. It sounds to me more like you've problems with you guitar or amp. Does your guitar do this with other amps? Does the amp do this with other guitars? You may need your pickups "potted", some Epi's don't have this done.
The noise gate seems to be more like slapping a bandage on and hoping for the best.
