DAT machine repairs (1 Viewer)

Anyone know of anyone in or around Dublin, competent at DAT repair / maintenance?
Also DDS tape drives (which use the same physical media and have a similar transport).

And finally, did anyone ever try "ripping" DAT audio from an Archive Python DDS drive,
over SCSI? I have such a drive, but it needs the firmware to be flash upgraded, and my DAT
ripping needs aren't great enough to risk destroying a drive that works just fine now for
computer backups.

There was a lot of suspicion as to the reliability and longevity of such a small and flimsy format,
when it was first launched. And Steve Albini once described using DAT for mastering as
"almost fraudulently irresponsible":
