Hey all,
I have a spanish friend who is on the job hunt, she's a qualified optician but
has gotten restaurant jobs here and there to tide her over.
What the places seem to be doing is taken people on on a 'trial' basis to
see if they can cope this involves paying below minimum wage and screwing them
out of the tips.
Then saying you can come back to work again on a 'trial' basis, getting them
to do more work than the longterm staff and then saying that they
have some other people coming to test out so they can compare and contrast.
This totally sucks, basically using foreigners as disposable skivvies, I wouldn't want
to eat in a place that treats it's staff badly and was wondering if there is a central type
forum where you can find out who the ethical places are or indeed name and shame places
that do do this sort of thing.
I'm totally in broke studentland, so when I do go out and don't want to be sending
my money to support dickheads treating people like shit.
