New Irish music series hits N2
Irish artists including The Frames, Nina Hynes, Mundy and Damien Rice feature in a new 13-part series on Network 2.

The series, called 'Other Voices - Songs From A Room' is presented by Frames frontman Glen Hansard.

Performances were filmed by Philip King in the 200 year-old St James' Church in Dingle over six nights in December 2002.

The series is dedicated to celebrating new and innovative Irish voices and will also feature Interference, Damien Dempsey, Emmet Tinley, Josh Ritter, Mark Geary, Maria Doyle Kennedy and Jerry Fish.

The first episode of 'Other Voices - Songs From A Room' will be broadcast on Network 2 at 9pm on Tuesday 25 February.

I'm suprised David Shitt isn't up there. See all those cunts moaning on the Christmas back-slappery Hot Press interview about how bands like U2 and the Cranberries never helped them out. What the fuck have any of these people contributed to Irish independent music?

..what is the hold up with mainstream telly looking at Irish cultrure a a level just below fucking the late late show(still embarassed to say that shit is on t.v.) or all that oirish shite..it's all so exportable and friendly.

..Here is a question when was the last time there was an Irish song in the charts(or pushed in mainstream radio etc) that was agrressive in content ?
(think along the lines of the rednecks with some vocals and you are getting there) I can't frucking remember. Anyone??
