The scouser who stood up to Silvio Berlusconi….

John Graham Davies' Beating Berlusconi! is a one man comedy show covering forty years, forty characters and the greatest football night ever.

Despite threats from his wife and bank manager, in May 2005 Irish Scouser Kenny Noonan travels to Istanbul to watch Liverpool play AC Milan in the Champions’ League Final. He carries the scars of thirty years as a fan and as a Liverpudlian: the 1981 UK riots, the Thatcher years, the H-block Hunger Strikers, Hillsborough.

An irreverent scouser’s comic odyssey climaxes in the true story of the Liverpool fan who ended up sitting next to the Italian PM at the Champions’ League Final in 2005.

Beating Berlusconi! is a laughter and tears tale of one man’s attempt to rediscover his belief in himself, his club, his city and his class.

Reviews

Duckworth is outstanding. The gags flowed all evening. LIVERPOOL ECHO

A punchy piece of good, old-fashioned popular theatre that wears its passions on its sleeve - a show with balls, in more ways than one. THE GUARDIAN
