ok I know what having someone on your ignore list does, but what does having someone on your buddy list do?

they show up when they're online, like on an ICQ / AIM user list, and you can PM them and stuff

if someone's on your ignore list, does that mean they can't pm you? chance'd be a fine thing... i have someone on my ignore list and i can tell when he's online and all, which is deeply upsetting and very out of keeping with the concept of ignoring in my opinion
