Britpop backlash (2 Viewers)

Just on

Copying, but saying you're copying, is still copying.

Look at the Shia Lebeouf shitshow.

The Fall would wank your Dad for a few quid.

Yes, but at least it's honest. That's closer to sampling. Or a mashup.

At least it's not pretending you wrote a song you didn't then forcing the actual artist to sue you if they want the truth.

This is what Elastica did essentially

No it isn't.

Ultimately Wire either couldn't or wouldn't write a pop song as straight forward and accessible over their riff (and it is their riff) as Elastica did with Connection. It's not surprising that the more inaccessible song didn't sell as many copies as the accessible one. Most of my favourite music sold about 6 copies at the time as well but what can you do? I don't like music based on sales figures.

Here, this Britpop song also seems to be based on Three Girl Rhumba

influential song all in all

as I said earlier Noel Gallagher "borrowed" even more of other people's music than elastica & even more blatantly, but elastica get the kicking.

You might have that the wrong way 'round

Most everyone says that Oasis are samey retro hacks
No one, outside of this thread, even talks about Elastica

yeah, but sure as I was saying earlier Marc Bolan was just ripping off Little Queenie by Chuck Berry. He even sings it at the end of the song. It all goes around and around.
