Spielberg, the Coens and old Tommy Hanks

Saw this last night. Strong and unsurprising piece of work.

Trailer didn’t look great but heard good things. I’ll probably watch every Spielberg and coen brothers film until either I die or they do, whichever comes first.

Kind of sad to see throngs for the Jobs movie and a half full theatre for this.
12 of us standing in the corridor because Everest ran long. We're all kind of looking at each other "This is it for the opening night of a Spielberg/Hanks film?" with millennial hysteria three theatres down for Boyle and Fassbender.

Spielberg is almost 70, I suppose. But still.

Mark Rylance is great in it. Someone you've noticed before but given the chance to shine here.
Everyone else is top drawer without ever excelling.
Bono's daughter showed again. As did Jesse Plemons.

There was also a guy I have met in it. Scott Shepherd. He did the 7-hour Gatz when it was in Dublin.
Met him in a liquor store in Brooklyn last year after Howie The Rookie in BAM and he was all interested in the play (and chuffed to be recognised)
So I just added him to the Wikipedia page for the movie cos he'd been left out.
