at school 30 years ago my chemistry teacher (dubbed Mendelev by me due to his beard) told us lithium was only used for psychiatric medication and was considered useless otherwise.
I told him I had had a calculator with a lithium battery and he wouldn't believe me!

lithium's almost useless status led to the in joke of dilithium crystals powering star ships on Star Trek - little did they know...

I suppose the best thing to do is put a massive battery in every house and then connect it to internet enabled (i.e. hackable) smart speakers and just hope that nobody ever gets so pissed off that they start incinerating houses en masse.
