on that whole spyware thing is there anything i can download that'll completely get rid of it off my computer?

i have spybot search and destroy which gets rid of them for a while but then they come back

Ad-aware is meant to be good - google should find it for you. Also I guess a decent firewall couldn't hurt.

dunno, don't use any messenger software - you can always turn the firewall off briefly while you're receiving the file if there's no option for allowing it in the configuration menu.
