We're delighted to team up with U:mack once again to bring the legendary German outfit Mouse On Mars to the Button Factory. On support are two of our favourite Irish acts right now, Sunken Foal and Solar Bears who will be doing a very rare dj set.
Mouse on Mars is one of the few electronic bands to stand the test of time. Constantly reinventing themselves, they have taken electronica to new heights with a unique blend of sound annihilation, fragmented melodies and an impassioned hatred of conformity. Over the course of eleven albums - not to mention an avalanche of side projects, remixes and collaborations - Jan St Werner and Andi Toma of Mouse On Mars established themselves as two of the most inventive and unpredictable artists in electronic music.
In 2014 the sound terrorists release their first 'digital only' EP 'Spezmodia'. Five Happy Hardcore inspired, Gabba reminding club tracks aim to push both listeners and dancers their limits and reflect what you experience at a Mouse on Mars' live show: an extremely high energy level, no time to breath and breaks and twists close to an epileptic collapse. The sound is still very own Mouse on Mars'. In their garden of digital sound synthesis the two professors with neon jelly bag caps dig for fresh vegetables, using self-build software like their iPhone app 'Wretchup'.
"The most marvelous aspect of Mouse on Mars' resurgence is that, similar to how their music has sounded to the uninitiated over the years, it doesn't make any sense. As Mark Richardson pointed out in his review of Parastrophics, many of Mouse on Mars' contemporaries have long since bitten the dust, but the duo's constant quest for self-innovation has afforded them just the right amount of relevance, even when it seems like the convergence between their current path and trends in modern music is purely coincidental.
