anyone know how to remove proofing tools/spell check in MS word 2007? (1 Viewer)

They're holding some sort of clerical test in my job and want it fixed so nobody can use spell check or proofing tools (or re-enable it from the menus). In office 2003 I'm pretty sure I could have just renamed and file or folder to confuse it, but I can't find anything on it for 2007 and google has failed me.

Try .....
1. Switching off Auto-correct options (Tools\Autocorrect options)

2. Switch off Check spelling/grammer as you type.
(Tools\Options\Spelling & Grammer)

3. If you really really want to confuse Word you could place
a dummy (empty) Custom.dic file in \APPLICATION DATA\MICROSOFT\PROOF\
Save/rename the original file First of course !!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, haven't tried these, but a quick look around word settings suggests the above would sort you out!

why not just get them to type their stuff into Notepad?
Or do you want to test their knowledge of Word as well as English?

I don't know. They're all moaning at me over some wanky shit that doesn't even matter and it's not even my problem etc. etc.

come to think of it, I was on the right track but
the dictionary I mentioned is the Custom Dictionary (ie words you add yourself)

so you may need to find out the name of the Default English dictionary for my approach to work !
