THIS WILL BE THE ONLY IRISH APPEARANCE BY AMEBIX THIS YEAR

We're proud to announce the first ever Irish appearance of the legendary Amebix. Having formed in 1978, and played the final show of their last tour in pre war Sarajevo in 1987, it took the world of underground music by surprise when their reformation for a handful of concerts was announced last year.
No band has ever matched Amebix's gift of creating the music of the apocalypse, although perhaps their lifestyle choice's and the environment in which the members of Amebix lived gave them an unfair advantage in envisaged the collapse of modern cilisation.
Having moved from their native Devon to Bristol, the bands founding member's, Miller Brothers "Stig" and "The Baron" found themselves living in abject poverty in the Squat Scene of mid eighties Thatcher's Britian. Surrounded by Heroin, Death, mental illness and contagious skin desease's not seen since the trenches of Gallipoli, the band lived in desolate buildings often with little electricity and no sanitation, raiding supermarket Skips for Food.
Amid all the squalor of the UK eighties squat scene, there was a lot of partying, and the music being played was as likely to include Motorhead and Black Sabbath as it was Crass or Conflict. Amebix developed a raw and primitive sound combining Heavy Metal riff's with punks attitude, in a way that had not been done before, and in doing so provided a vital moment in the evolution of heavy rock music.
True innovators, after Amebix broke up in 1987, Stig Went on to form the mightly Zygote, and The Baron moved to the Ilse of Skye and has become a master sword maker. check out his work at www.castlekeep.co.uk

When film Director Roy Wallace (Toxic Waste) came together with the band in Belfast to record for the DVD of Amebix documentary "Risen" (available now from www.toxicwastebelfast.co.uk) they were joined by the powerhouse American drummer Roy Mayorga, who has previously drummed for Nausea, Soulfly and more Recently Sepultura. Mayorga brings something really special to Amebix, and the band are doing their best live performances ever. This is the only time Amebix will play in Ireland this year, and it may well be the only time they ever do.
