Not sure if this should be in here or the 10101010110 one..

Anyway my old DV cam is chewing tapes and i think its time to replace.

I'd probably spend 300-600 euro (or sterling if a trip up North is worth it). My main use will be shooting small projects and editing on Vegas. I really don't think I need high definition.

So are Mini-dv pretty obsolete. How do Mini-DV vs Flash cards vs Hard drives compare? I've only used Mini-DV before..What are good brands and models?

What do I need with regard to lens? Mini focal length to Max focal length?

thanks.

Canon XM2

It's what I'm currently using, very good camera, only one really built like a professional but at a consumer price. Although, i think it costs a bit more than 600.

Mini-DV will always triumph over flashcards and HDD.

p.s. When lookin for a good zoom, don't bother with all that 200x digital zoom cos it's piss, always concentrate on the optical zoom.
