Here's a bit of info on the three acts who are likely known by quite a few people on here (See today Irish Times album of the week for more on Hunter-Gatherer)
Adrian Crowley
A shining light in a sometimes stagnant Irish singer-songwriter scene for the past decade, 2009 has brought Adrian Crowley his most successful year to date. Having signed to influential Scottish label Chemikal Underground (home to Mogwai and Arab Strap among others) and received glowing reviews for his excellent fifth album Season Of The Sparks, the Galwegian has just finished co-curating the Homelights Festival that's brought shows from the likes of Vashti Bunyan, Alasdair Roberts and Andy Irvine - not to mention Crowley himself - all around the country. Crowley counts Ryan Adams and legendary producer Steve Albini among his fans, and looks set for a bright 2010 with the international release of Season Of The Sparks along with the rest of his back catalogue. If you haven't managed to catch him live before, this is the perfect setting for his soothingly intimate folk sound. Warm sounds for cold nights.

Originally from Carlow but now based in Dublin, The Holy Roman Army consists of brother and sister Chris and Laura Coffey. Having self-released their debut album How The Light Gets In at the end of June, the pair have since toured extensively, earning a loyal fanbase along the way. Their sound is a mix of lush electronica and breathy vocals (shared equally between the siblings, so hopefully there'll be no onstage fights!). Fans of The Notwist, múm and Au Revoir Simone should feel right at home here.

With debut album 'I Dreamed I Was A Footstep In The Trail Of A Murderer' gaining rave reviews across the board on the eve of its release, Hunter-Gatherer is very much a name to look out for in the coming months. Described by NME as sounding "like an ice-storm panic attack", the album is full of chilling bleeps and dark electro turnabouts - the perfect soundtrack for walking the dog down by the Dodder at 3am.
