Lobbying (also Lobby) is a form of advocacy with the intention of influencing decisions made by legislators and officials in the government by individuals, other legislators, constituents, or advocacy groups. A lobbyist is a person who tries to influence legislation on behalf of a special interest or a member of a lobby.

in this article in the irish times, ann fitzgerald the cheif executive of the national consumer association

“This suggests that competitive pricing is still not a feature of the Irish grocery market and to address this there is a real need for a new entrant to the market to offer consumers a real alternative.”

the irish times* headed the article as 'price of groceries down 14%' - today fm* actually namechecked asda in their news article, and planning law - suggesting that if we want cheaper groceries, we must change planning law to allow asda to set up here. i cant find the full text of her speech though.
