What Book Did You Read Last Night???

Currently listening to Chigozie Obioma's The Fishermen. About mid way through. Been trying to "decolonise" my habits a bit so I've made a deliberate choice to read/listen to more originally not in English novels, more women etc. Aside from a couple of Camus novels I've never read anything by...

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

3 or 4 chapters into a wild sheep chase by Murakami (my first by him). Enjoying the economy of language, very abrupt in its descriptiveness, reminds me of the one Hemmingway book I've read. Recently finished Beloved by Toni Morrison, which was very good.

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

I read the first one and it was a perfectly fine mystery/thriller but I felt in no way compelled to read any of the others. Whoever did the translation didn't do a great job. There was a lot of references to things that might be second nature to Swedes but for an anglophone they could have...

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

Not wanting anything particularly challenging I read "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" last week. It's an okay crime novel but it's quite a poor translation from the Swedish I think, many terms that I think would be second nature to Swedes were directly translated and there were a couple of...

Who has read more books than Art Garfunkel? http://www.artgarfunkel.com/library.html On the that note. What's the word for someone who has read all the books ever written? Obviously there hasn't been one of those since the 15th century or so a the latest but there is an actual word for it.

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

Finished this today, I was talking to someone about it last night and she said that I'd either find the ending to be hugely uplifting or a continuation of the unrelenting bleakness that goes through the whole book. I'm in the latter camp. Were it not for the brilliance of the prose it'd have...

Only a few interviews in. I read one last night which he did for a UK magazine after Nighthawks at the diner came out and most of his answers were snippits from the then unrecorded, at the time being written, small change.

The final hundred or so pages about about his love for Joy Division and also includes an open letter to Kevin Shields but mainly they're about his all encompassing and borderline obsessional devotion to Guided By Voices. Enjoyed it.
